Coventry 2021 Roundtables

10 October 2018

The Coventry City of Culture Trust have launched a series of ‘Roundtables’.  These are spaces for conversations and idea generation ahead of the City of Culture year.

Regular Roundtables are essentially facilitated public discussions designed for those interested and engaged in the specific sector or industry and service providers. Each discussion will be themed. Initial sessions are running from October 2018 to March 2019.

All talks will be hosted by Chenine Bhathena, Creative Director, City of Culture Trust and facilitated by industry experts.  They will include breakout discussions around what ‘the role of culture is in a modern and diverse Britain’ and how we can use our youth, culture and creativity to promote innovation and activism in Coventry, across the nation and the globe.

The ‘Roundtables’ are listed below – they are free to attend, but booking is essential as there is a maximum capacity of approx. 50 people per session.

Refugee and Migrant Communities

Monday 12 November, 1-3pm

Shop Front Theatre 38 City Arcade, Coventry CV1 3HW

This session will be co-hosted between City of Culture Trust and Coventry Refugee and Migrants Centre. The Roundtable will be a chance to share some of the great exemplars and work already happening here in the community and to get a conversation started. A chance to start to consider the challenges, opportunities and needs of refugee communities.

It’s also a chance to hear from artists working ‘away’ from Cov to share their experiences and what further work and impacts that has inspired.

We will consider human rights, equality/inequality and multi-culturalism/internationalism for new communities – at home and away.

Suitable for all individuals and organisations working on / or planning to work on refugee and migrant arts related projects in Coventry. (16+)
