With Tate and the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum

One of the best-known prizes for visual arts in the world, Turner Prize 2021 is coming to the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry as part of UK City of Culture 2021.

Every other year, the Prize leaves Tate Britain and is presented at a venue outside London.

Tate Britain announced the shortlist for Turner Prize 2021: Array Collective, Black Obsidian Sound System, Cooking Sections, Gentle/Radical, and Project Art Works.

This is the first time a Turner Prize jury has selected a shortlist consisting entirely of artist collectives. All the nominees work closely and continuously with communities across the breadth of the UK to inspire social change through art. The collaborative practices selected for this year’s shortlist also reflect the solidarity and community demonstrated in response to the pandemic.

The 2021 Prize’s jury is: Russell Tovey, Actor; Zoé Whitley, Director, Chisenhale Gallery; Aaron Cezar, Director, Delfina Foundation; and Kim McAleese, Programme Director, Grand Union.

The Turner Prize 2021 is supported by the AKO Foundation, Avanti West Coast and Arts Council England, with additional support from ArtAV, the John Browne Charitable Trust and Lance Uggla.
