What is UK City of Culture?

UK City of Culture is a competition run by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) every four years. Previous winners are Derry/Londonderry in 2013 and Hull who had their year in 2017.

Our partners

Coventry won the UK City of Culture title for many reasons, not least the backing of a wide range of local and regional companies and professional organisations, demonstrating the scale and depth of support from the private sector and the public.

We will work closely with our community organisations across the city to co-create a programme that is sustainable long after 2021 is over.
