This powerful, emotional piece brings different communities and artforms together, within the framework of a Requiem composed by Midlands-based Liz Dilnot Johnson.
It is a response to the human tragedy of war and displacement, and celebrates those who offer sanctuary and hope. Coventry is one of the leading cities for the resettlement of refugees, and this performance in Coventry Cathedral – next to the bombed ruins of the old building – promises to be a extremely poignant.
Newly-created content will be created for the concert by refugee communities and schoolchildren from Coventry, who will perform alongside Ex Cathedra, Birmingham's world-class choir directed by Jeffrey Skidmore. Partners are to be announced and Ex Cathedra is pleased to hear from any refugee groups and schools who would like to take part in the project.
