Beginning on Eagle Street, audiences are introduced to Baani, who faces the imminent death of her mother. Tasked with getting a message to her father, she agrees to meet him at Pool Meadow bus station, but this is a journey she has never made before. Baani is resourceful and very good company but will anyone help her find her way?

Performances at 10.30am & 3.30pm. The 10.30am performance of The Messenger will be live-streamed on the Coventry City of Culture Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Written by Chris O’Connell and directed by Erica Whyman, the cast includes: Daniel J Carver, Pushpinder Chani, Katy Stephens, Humera Syed, Claire Wetherall and Grace Wylde.

Supported by Backstage Trust and David and Sandra Burbidge

The City Voices programme was devised and created by Theatre Absolute in 2019, in partnership with Coventry City of Culture Trust

Admission is free but you must have a ticket to attend in person.

The plays have limited capacities so there is a limit of 2 tickets per booking per performance, and please only book if you intend to attend.

As the plays are promenade and will require a certain amount of walking, we recommend booking for no more than two plays for the optimal experience.

HOW TO EXPERIENCE 'FAITH'

You can experience the Faith project in lots of different ways; you can visit one of the faith centres taking part in Open House throughout the day on Saturday, follow the ribbon route through the city between the participating faith centres, book for one or more of the live promenade shows (one hour each, starting in different locations across Coventry from 10.30am to 5.30pm), or join in the Ceremony of Light on Saturday evening.  The plays tell the stories of important moments in everyday life – from birth to love to death and how Coventry families find the faith to get through them, and find joy and hope in their city. You will be able to watch all four live shows from your home, or on a mobile device, as they are livestreamed online on social media from 10.30am to 6.30pm.

There is a limit of 2 tickets per person for the live shows. Any bookings in excess of this limit will be cancelled.

This is to allow as many people as possible to be able to experience Faith in person. Please only book tickets if you intend to attend.
