Coventry welcomes March to Glasgow COP26

Sat 9 Oct 2021 @ 12.00
Coventry Cathedral Ruins
Priory Street, Coventry, CV1 5RN
Duration: 2 hours

Activities and events labelled as 'Taking Place In Cov 2021' have not been produced or commissioned by Coventry City of Culture Trust but are taking place during the City of Culture year.

On Saturday 9 Oct, an international group hiking up the whole of the UK to the Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow will pass through Coventry city. Join in for part of the walk, show your support and help to raise awareness of the climate emergency. Let's show them a warm Coventry Welcome!

As part of Coventry City of Culture Arts & Homelessness week, local artists and young people have created works in recycled cardboard to highlight the many millions of people around the world being made homeless by climate change. Gather at Coventry train station at 12 noon and follow as we dance our way through the city centre with Alice, the Cheshire Cat, Rabbit & Bee! The march will come to Coventry Cathedral Ruins for lunch, welcome speakers and entertainment from awesome Coventry band DUCK THIEVES. Colourful characters will perform ALICE SAVES THE PLANET FROM BIG OIL (15 minutes). Plenty of friendly faces will be sharing information (and samosas!) in the ruins from 12.30pm - 1.30pm. This event is shared with all groups working to support action on the climate emergency. This event precedes the St Basil’s Sleep Out at Coventry Cathedral Ruins overnight.
