Vijay Lakhanpal - City Host Case Study

Vijay Lakhanpal - City Host Case Study

Q1. Tell us a little bit about yourself (where you live, what you do, your back story, etc)

I was born in Kenya and came to England, with my family in 1966, and Coventry has been my home for 52 years. I went to school here and got married here so have not really had the reason to leave Coventry. I started to volunteer when my daughter left home and went to university. I found myself having more time on my hands and now have two volunteer jobs and work full time.

Q2. What made you decide to sign up as a City Host?

I became a City Host because I am proud of where I grew up, because the City has made me the person I am today. I enjoy volunteer work and I want to be involved in showing off this City in a way it deserves to be. The diverse cultural community has bought so much colour and life into the city and we should celebrate that together.

Q3. What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

Being involved in showcasing the city will bring me happiness and the feeling of fulfilment. I like to think that every day is a learning day, and I anticipate a good learning experience from this.

Q4. Anything else you would like to tell us?

I am a single lady, with no commitments and want to put my time and energy to into this experience. I want to enjoy life and my saying is not "Is your glass half empty or is it half full "My saying is" I am grateful for even having a glass". I am a positive person as the word negative is not in my vocabulary.
