Are you a Community Connector?

Coventry City of Culture Trust is looking for 10 individuals or groups who have a passion for their local area and its residents. 

We are here to offer you the resources, training and support you need to bring your ideas to life.

• Do you have a great idea for a project that will benefit your community?
• Do you organise activities that bring people together in your area?
• Can you bring community members together to co-create a project?
• Would you like to gain the skills and confidence to turn your idea into a reality? 

We want to hear about the work you are already doing - and what you dream of doing - to create positive change in your community.

Boyanka Bobeva (Community Connector for Foleshill) is staging a one-day festival celebrating Bulgarian culture, food and traditions.

WHAT WILL I RECEIVE?

Become a Community Connector and you could benefit from: 

• The chance to gain new skills through our accessible training and mentoring programme learning from a team of professionals
• A project budget of up to £4000 to turn your idea into a reality
• An allowance of £300 per month to cover your time and out-of-pocket expenses

PREVIOUS PROJECTS

We are now recruiting for Phase 2 of our Community Connectors programme. Successful projects from Phase 1 included:

• Improving the community garden at Foleshill Community Centre to supply more vegetables for the members of its Social Supermarket.
• Making a short film “Sanctuary of our City” as an artistic platform for women who are refugees, asylum seekers or migrants in Coventry.
• Staging a one-day festival celebrating Bulgarian culture, food and traditions by and for people from Coventry.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

You can apply to be a Community Connector if you are:

• Aged 18 or over.
• A community champion in your area with the seed of an idea for a project that uses creativity (in its broadest sense) to bring people together and make a positive impact on their lives.
• OR an individual who is working or volunteering for a community group, charity or voluntary organisation and have an idea you would like to develop then this may be the programme for you
• Based in any of the following wards in Coventry:
  • North East: Longford, Wyken
  • South East: Upper Stoke, Binley & Willenhall, Cheylesmore
  • South West: Westwood, Woodlands, Whoberley, Sherbourne
  • North West: Bablake

HOW TO APPLY

You can submit your written responses in an email, as a Word document or pdf attachment, or handwritten by post. You may also submit your answers in video or audio form. Please ensure you provide your full name and contact information (address, phone number and/or email address).
