WITH SOHAN KAILEY

Looking for a fun family extramural activity? Try our family dance club, which is ideal for under 5s with their parents, grown-ups or carers.

Across ten weekly sessions, you will learn fun Bhangra dance steps and movements and more about where Bhangra dancing comes from. Bhangra is a fun farming and agricultural dance from the farmlands of North India known as the Punjab. The dance was created to celebrate the harvest festival known as Vaisakhi.

The workshops are designed to learn at your own pace together as part of a group, enable children to count, name vegetables, play handheld musical instruments, learn fun dance routines to wonderful music. Adding to the fun, we will have different themes each week to keep everyone super excited. Bhangra dancing dinosaurs, Bhangra Pirates, let’s go dancing on the beach plus other exciting themes linked to healthy eating, exercise and leading healthy lifestyles. Let’s go on fun adventures with the practitioner dancing around the world using Bhangra and creative music.

WHAT IS TRY IT?

Try It! is a programme encouraging Coventry residents to have a go at a range of new, and often quirky, health-giving creative activities during our year as UK City of Culture.

We believe in social prescribing – the idea that, by taking part in community activities, we can all improve our health and wellbeing.

This project aims to enhance the lives of community members and leave a lasting legacy of creative activities in Coventry.

For each workshop, you can book tickets online or pay at the door.
