An incredible night of co-created comedy featuring stand-up comedians from refugee and migrant backgrounds, mentored by award-winning comedian Tom Parry (Pappy’s; Badults; The Lost Disc) and Coventry Comedian Stella Graham.
Please be aware the headliner for 25 June, formerly Fatiha El-Ghorri, is now Kai Samra.
Headliners include Kai Samra (25 June), Rosie Jones (26 June) and Nish Kumar (27 June).
As restrictions are eased and we step out of the worst days of the pandemic, this is a brilliant opportunity to experience live comedy; laughing and celebrating our connections with each other.
Hosted by Coventry’s own Stella Graham
Stella is from Coventry and has performed all around the UK, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and the USA. She has taken 5 hour-long solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Brighton Fringe and Leicester Comedy Festival.
About the show
Since autumn 2018 award-winning comedian Tom Parry in association with Counterpoints Arts has been running the No Direction Home stand-up programme – a unique new course for aspiring comics from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
This year the project has been in Coventry working with a cohort of individuals who have all sought sanctuary in the city. This is a unique project raising awareness and changing perceptions about refugees and migrants, everyone has a story to tell and comedy is a universal art form that can overcome boundaries and preconceptions, making audiences laugh, engage and understand experiences that deserve a platform. Alongside Stella Graham and Tom Parry, acclaimed comedians Kai Samra and Fathia El-Ghorri have worked with the cohort to develop their routines as part of workshops and live shows happening in June 2021.
