Being any kind of foreign in any country is a complicated thing, even if you’re only part foreign.
Coventry-born writer and director Jude Christian’s acclaimed play Nanjing explores themes of identity, displacement and conflict in a personal response to the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. It has been reconceived for 2021 as a piece of digital theatre with integral discussion. The performance weaves together questions such as:
- What does it mean to be mixed race?
- How can we live together peacefully?
It also encourages audiences to play their part in these discussions.
The noon and 3pm film and Q&A are entirely in-person. The 7pm film and Q&A will be in-person AND also delivered through Zoom. This booking page is only for audiences looking to book onto the online 7pm session. The in-person audience and the digital audience will merge so the entire event can be experienced live wherever you are.
