Coventry’s FREE Bands in the Park are back!

The city’s Bands in the Park programme returns this summer with many of Coventry’s fabulous parks playing host to live music. These events are part of the City of Culture “Summer of Surprises” programme of events.

This much-loved series of FREE mini concerts is back with the usual wide variety of musical styles and bands and a few new, longer events offering additional musical entertainment.

If you have never been to a Bands in the Park event, it is a relaxing, family-friendly musical experience in many of the city’s beautiful parks on a Sunday afternoon, taking place from the end of July until the end of September. Times vary but are usually from 2pm and 3.30pm. The aim is to entertain, bring a smile and perhaps enjoy a dance in great surroundings and best of all it is FREE!

My Neighbour Totoro (PG)

Join us for some family fun this summer as Allesley park becomes a cinema for the day!

This charming animated tale follows schoolgirl Satsuke and her younger sister, Mei, as they settle into an old country house with their father and wait for their mother to recover from illness. As the sisters explore their new home, they encounter and befriend playful spirits in their house and the nearby forest, most notably the massive cuddly creature known as Totoro!

Labyrinth (PG)

CineCov brings some magic to Allesley Park with this 80s cult classic starring David Bowie.

Fifteen-year-old Sarah resents her baby brother Toby and secretly wishes that he will just disappear. Her wish comes true when goblins kidnap the boy. Feeling responsible for his abduction, she sets forth to retrieve him, and finds herself on the adventure of a lifetime. To rescue her brother, she must sneak into the castle of the Goblin King, which is in the centre of a fantastical labyrinth. But, the task is easier said than done, for the maze is filled with strange creatures and mind-bending puzzles, and nothing is really as it seems.
