UK City of Culture New Commissions

Coventry City of Culture Trust and the Heart of England Community Foundation have made three funds available for commissions and projects that will take place before the end of May 2022.

PROJECT GRANTS FOR UNDER 5s

The Under 5s Project Grants aim to support live, creative projects aimed at engaging audiences aged under 5 years old and their families. There are four grants of up to £7,250 available.

Projects will:

  • Be in-person activities or events, providing live experiences specifically aimed at under 5s and their families
  • Take place between July 2021 and May 2022
  • Be fully realised productions with the possibility of being a remount or rescope of a previous project

Application deadline: Wday 16 June 2021, 5pm.

BLACK ARTISTS FUND

The Black Artists Fund has three grants of up to £10,000 each available to support Black artists and creatives or Black-led organisations, based in Coventry and Warwickshire, to create new projects to be realised by May 2022.

This fund is open to:

  • Black Creatives and Artists (or those working within an artistic/cultural setting)
  • Black-led Registered Charities and Community Organisations
  • Black-led Social Enterprises
  • Black-led Non constituted groups

Application deadline: W 16 June 2021, 5pm.

EASY READ*

ACCESS GRANTS

Grants of up to £1,000 are available to support arts organisations or individuals in the city to make their activities accessible to D/deaf, disabled and/or neurodiverse artists, audience members and participants.

Cost could cover:

  • Access provisions including captioning, British Sign Language Interpreters or Audio Description Services, Touch Tours
  • To support Disability Equality Training for staff or individuals
  • Additional budget to support Disabled artists or participants within your creative project
  • To support Disability Equality Training for staff or individuals
  • Covering costs of an Access Consultant to work with you on existing or new projects
  • Support accessible marketing formats such as Braille, Easy Read’s or British Sign Language videos relating to your existing or new project
  • Purchase of equipment such as ramps, audio description kits or captioning units

These grants are available to support existing work as well as new activity.

Application deadline: the fund is rolling, so the selection panel will meet on 12 July, 2 August and 6 September 2021

These surgeries will also be an opportunity to learn more about the access support available.
