The New Babylon is a 1929 Soviet silent film written and directed by Grigori Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg. The film deals with the 1871 Paris Commune and the events leading to it, and follows the encounter and tragic fate of two lovers separated by the barricades of the Commune.
The soundtrack to the film is by Søjus1 from their own score which they most recently performed at the Dresden Silent Film Festival.
The screening is part of CineCov made possible with support from the BFI using funds from the National Lottery. The screening has been facilitated by John Gore at StokeScreen, Coventry.
