Sound: In Bloom is part of our biennial Shoot Festival, which runs from 23 April – 7 May and this year is being presented as part of Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture. It’s been a brilliant year highlighting some of the best arts and culture the city has to offer. And as the celebrations draw to a close, we’re inviting you to join us, as we showcase some of the best musicians ‘blooming’ here in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Sound: In Bloom features Koyesax a multi-genre solo artist and saxophonist. He is currently working on his debut EP ‘The Genesis’ which includes original compositions that blend Afrobeats, Jazz, Poetry, World and Soul all performed in Koyesax’s inimitable style.
The second band in the line-up is led by Mahendra who specialises in playing a range of hand drums from around the globe. Created especially for Sound: In Bloom Manendra formed a new group - Elephant In The Room, featuring South Indian Carnatic trained violin player Srividya Venkate; Didgeridoo player Ameet Gauher; Flautist Fenella Kelly and Miruthangham player Danujen Sivanesan. Together, they aim to recreate traditional classical/Bollywood music which blurs boundaries and explores new terrain.
Completing the Sound: In Bloom line-up is Rosso, a duo who write and perform songs that bring freedom, truth and empower all who listen. Their unique sound coalesces around the lyrical essence of folk music and the foot stomping of country. They will be performing their first single ‘Found’ alongside a set of original songs.
Sound: In Bloom is your opportunity to experience some of our best homegrown talent who’ll be presenting fresh, exciting and original music. Book your tickets now for tonight’s musical excursion that will take you to Africa, India and America via the UK.
