Activities and events labelled as 'Taking Place In Cov 2021' have not been produced or commissioned by Coventry City of Culture Trust but are taking place during the City of Culture year.

Delivered by the Canal and River Trust.

Want to learn to fish? We'll get you up and netting in no time. It’s a great way to relax and spend time in the fresh air with your family.

As part of WaterWAYS learn to fish with the Canal and River Trust's team of professionally qualified and licensed angling coaches. All bait, equipment, permits and licence are provided. All you need to do is book in and turn up on time on the day.

As the charity that helps local people to take advantage of the wellbeing benefits of being by water, the Canal and River Trust particularly look to host events in places where everyone, regardless of background or ability, can get the opportunity to enjoy a happier, healthier life.

Booking Information

Please book one time slot per person, ensuring that the ticket is in the correct name of the actual participant who intends to fish. Multiple bookings using the same participant name will not be accepted. On the day, you must arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your allocated start time.

Who are these events for?

These one-hour sessions are available to all adults and for children aged from six years old and upwards who are interested in trying out a potential new hobby. Experience has taught us that these introductory events have typically proved absolutely brilliant for children between the ages of 7 and 15. Children under the age of six must not be booked in separately; but should usually be able to have a quick taster by sharing a slot on the day with an older sibling or parent. If this option is exercised, a paper consent form will need to be completed on the day. When we are not fully booked, we will allow walk-in participants on the same basis.

Cost of Event

This event is free for all participants who attend on the day. However, if you have booked on, subsequently fail to cancel and simply don’t show up on the day, you are liable to be invoiced for the standard £50.00 administration fee, chargeable for each ticket booked.

Therefore, if your circumstances do suddenly change and you find you are no longer able to attend, you must cancel using one of these three mechanisms:

• 1 The preferred method is via the Eventbrite ticket booking system using the link that you can find on your ticket. This can be found at the bottom of your ticket and has a link directly to “cancel my ticket”.

• 2 By email [email protected] giving details of date, time, venue and participants in your email message. Don’t email if within than 48hours of the event, instead please use option 1 above or in an emergency 3 below.

• 3 In the event of an unforeseen emergency within 48 hours of the event, by telephoning the lead coach named in your final reminder email which will have been sent to you approximately 48 hours before the commencement of event.

We ask for your co-operation in this matter. This will allow others who would otherwise have regrettably missed out due to lack of space, the opportunity to attend this event.

Covid-19 Guidelines

If you have Covid-19 symptoms or if you have been told to self-isolate, you must not attend. Please cancel your ticket as set out above. For your safety, fishing equipment will be cleaned between sessions. Latest government guideless around Covid will apply to the Let’s Fish programme.
