Coventry City of Culture Trust has launched its Delegates Office. It will welcome professionals from across the arts and the creative industries to the city during the 365-day programme, which starts on 15 May and runs for 12 months.
The city is preparing to welcome visitors, of all kinds, to experience and take part in the wide range of cultural events on offer during the City of Culture year.
After a challenging year for the sector, the Coventry UK City of Culture Delegates Office provides a service to those in the industry seeking to access performances and events, and meet the artists and organisations developing the exceptional programme of activities.
The Delegates Office will ensure that those visiting the city have an exceptional and fruitful experience, through encouraging engagement with the public programme across the year and providing opportunities to connect with the local arts sector, build new professional relationships and share ideas with Coventry’s cultural sector.
The offering forms a key part of the legacy planning for City of Culture, as the city seeks to develop relationships with those who can support its priorities and secure a legacy for the local cultural sector beyond 2022.
In advance of each visit, the Delegates Office will work closely with the individual delegates to advise and help build an itinerary that will ensure that they are making the most of their time in Coventry. The Delegates Hub, centrally located within the City of Culture’s Hertford Street shop, will provide a place for delegates to get their bearings, and grab a coffee and a god cake (a local delicacy). Daily delegate briefings will give an overview of the cultural activity in Coventry on that day and will provide an opportunity to connect with other artists and delegates visiting the city.
Registration for the Delegates Office is free of charge.
Online applications to be a delegate open on April 15 2021 via the City of Culture website.
Martin Sutherland, Chief Executive, Coventry City of Culture Trust, says:
“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to Coventry and showcasing the city’s youthful and diverse creative and cultural scene. The festival experience is all about seeing some amazing performances and events, making great connections, and having inspiring and surprising conversations. The delegates offering is free and will be an invaluable resource for anyone in the industry looking to explore the city, meet future collaborators, reconnect after lockdown and expand their programmes and networks. We can’t wait to welcome you to the City that Moves.”
