Coventry City of Culture Trust invites the people of Coventry to make the city glow in support of frontline staff on International Day of the Nurse.

7 May 2020

Tuesday 12th May marks International Day of the Nurse and the 200th birthday of the Lady of the Lamp, Florence Nightingale. Coventry City of Culture Trust in partnership with Coventry City Council and Coventry BID, are encouraging Coventry residents to light up their homes and front windows on Tuesday evening in honour of all NHS frontline staff.

At 8pm Coventry landmarks including the Belgrade Theatre, the Herbert Art Gallery and Broadgate will be illuminated in shades of blue to mark the occasion. The people of Coventry will be able to take pictures of their own illuminated homes and share them on social media using the hashtag #CoventryGlows. Coventry City of Culture Trust will then share a selection of pictures of the landmarks and submissions from the public throughout the week.

This is a small but meaningful way we can all say thank you to the nurses, doctors, porters, lab technicians, cleaners and all frontline staff who work nonstop to save lives and protect the public.

So, get your Christmas lights out of the loft, dig out your electric candles and get ready for a citywide thank you at 8pm on Tuesday 12th.
