White Rabbits – a poem

1 December 2017
Steven Morson

We received this on Facebook today, and we loved it too much not to share:

White rabbits
White rabbits
I ‘bagsy’ it first
now I’ll get a present
and never be cursed

White rabbits
White rabbits
I claim as my prize
peace in our hearts Lord
as the sun starts to rise

White rabbits
White rabbits
It’s all superstition
but it’s worth a good try
as we’re all on a mission

White rabbits
White rabbits
Our city’s the best
and we all need to shout it
so vote with the rest

White rabbits
White rabbits
Coventry is fun
it’s filled with such wonders
and the day’s just begun !!

White rabbits
White rabbits
We are “top of the tree”
we are blessed with a culture
that’s easy to see

White rabbits
White rabbits
The judging’s not over
so type out a message
from Scotland to Dover

White rabbits
White rabbits
All you people who’ve been
to see our great city
please tell what you’ve seen

White rabbits
White rabbits
We’re a city of age
even ol’ William Shakespeare
has played on our stage

White rabbits
White rabbits
There is a strong vein
of truly great monarchs
who came here to reign

White rabbits
White rabbits
After wars were unfurled
we share peace with cities
all over the world

White rabbits
White rabbits
We stood to the test
we rose from the ashes
because we’re the best

White rabbits
White rabbits
Our culture is wide
no colour or class
will our council divide

White rabbits
White rabbits
Surely we’ve won
“The City of Culture”
in the year twenty one !!
