No prior experience is required to join the course. We welcome you and your friends to have some fun and Try It! this autumn.
WITH EMILIE LAUREN JONES
Looking to build your confidence and improve your mental wellbeing?
Join Coventry Poet Laureate, Emilie Lauren Jones for six relaxed sessions. Ideal for people who are new to poetry as well as those who already enjoy any form of creative writing, we will have fun exploring words as a form of self-expression.
Participants do not need to be ‘academic’ to enjoy the poetry in these sessions or to write their own poems - words belong to all of us. We will explore different types of poetry from across the globe and will have a go at writing our own poems inspired by the words of others. We will consider themes such as nature, hobbies, family and friends, self-worth and writing for mental wellbeing.
There will be opportunities for attendees to share their thoughts, inspirations and poems in this safe space but there is never any pressure for people to do so. Participants will be able to take their work home, there’s no assessments and it won’t be marked!
