Dream of a place full of hope, where we gather and celebrate. Experience the joy as live music fills the air and look up to see acrobats and aerialists displaying incredible feats of human strength and resilience.

A monumental dreamcatcher evokes the powerful desire for freedom, rising to a meteoric climax with a spectacular explosion of colour. 

For two nights only, join us for an event unlike anything Coventry has ever seen.

How to Book / Your Visit

Choose your entrance to the venue when booking your ticket from either Hertford Street, Upper Precinct or Trinity Street.

Everyone coming to The Awakening needs to have a ticket, except for children under 18 months old.

Suitable for all ages. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult 18+. 

Access for disabled people and wheelchair users through any entrance. Access information.

Entrance gates open 5.30pm for a 6.30pm prompt start.

The event contains loud, sudden noise.

Please do not bring any alcohol into the venue. Drinks and refreshments are available from local vendors. Why not make an evening of your visit and book a table at one of Broadgate's many restaurants for dinner after the show.

Gratte Ciel specialise in aerial spectaculars full of acrobatics, colour and music. Originating from Arles in France, the company have presented shows around the world from Montreal to Stockholm, Buenos Aires to Adelaide. Led by Stéphane Girard and Camille Beaumier with highly skilled multi-disciplinary performers, they invite you to leap into a world of escapism. 

The company presents living, organic and human frescoes in the form of large aerial paintings. Monumental vertical installations invite you to look at the city with fresh eyes.

Do I need a ticket to come to The Awakening in Broadgate?

Yes. Tickets are £5 - Please book a ticket to the event via or in person at Assembly Festival Garden, Little Park Street.

Are there any seats?

This is an outdoor standing event lasting approximately 40 minutes. We recommend you dress according to the weather. Seats are available for disabled people. Please see our access information.

Can I give my tickets to someone else if I can’t make it? 

Yes you can pass your tickets to someone else if you can’t attend. We are unable to take tickets back for resale.

What if there are no tickets left? 

Unfortunately, once all the tickets are sold, we are unable to offer any more or allow access to those without tickets. There are over 4000 tickets available for Friday 13 and Saturday 14 May, if one show is sold out, please do check availability for the other date.

If the weather is bad, will the event be cancelled?
It is not possible for the performance to take place in windy or very wet weather. In the event of poor weather, we will make slight amends to the show. In severe weather we may have to cancel. If the weather looks likely to improve, we may move the start time to a maximum of 90 minutes later. Please add your mobile number to your account so that we can communicate with you easily.

Please note you will not be allowed to bring an umbrella into the site due to safety and sightlines so please dress appropriately.

How will I be informed if the event is cancelled?

  • The event organiser reserves the right to search clothing for security reasons upon entry or whilst inside the venue.
  • There will be no entry to the site without a ticket.
  • There is no re-admission to the site.

Please note that anyone found to have anything in their possession that is deemed illegal, the Police will be informed, and they may be charged. 


The event organisers retain the right to refuse entry to the site at any time.

There will be Access Stewards in green tabards around the venue and at a designated Access Kiosk for you to approach with any questions when you are at the event.
