Summer 2022 Exhibition: Prophecy

Sat 7 May 2022 to Sun 26 Jun 2022
Mead Gallery, Warwick Arts Centre
University of Warwick, Coventry CV4 7AL
Duration: 9 hours

Activities and events labelled as 'Taking Place In Cov 2021' have not been produced or commissioned by Coventry City of Culture Trust but are taking place during the City of Culture year.

Inspired by George Eliot's novel, Middlemarch and exploring stories of survival, history, and migration.

Bringing together the work of 14 contemporary artists who use stories and histories to present shared experiences.

Conceived in collaboration with Coventry artist Laura Nyahuye, Prophecy presents artworks that explore similar themes to those present in Middlemarch; including survival, history, and migration to consider how individual experiences can bring people closer together. The exhibition is imagined as a conversation that unfolds and develops within Warwick Arts Centre's Mead Gallery. Nyahuye invites visitors, local groups and communities to contribute their voices to the exhibition, by creating pieces or leaving comments that respond to, sit alongside, and complement the works on display - constantly changing the exhibition over its seven-week duration.

Celebrate the opening of the exhibition on Sat 7 May 3-6pm, including a live performance by Coventry-based artist and co-curator of the show Laura Nyahuye.
