ABOUT THE SHOW

Our Wilder Family presents a spectacular drone show, full of stunning shapes and WOW moments. This record-breaking show will be the longest drone display in the UK. As the drones take to the sky you will enjoy a 16 minute light show as you have never seen before, inspired by the beauty of nature all around us. World-famous drone artists, Celestial, have partnered with City Voices and schools across Coventry to create this stunning display. The show is accompanied by local poetry and a new sound score created in collaboration with local communities by Dan Jones and Guy Hughes.

Coventry, the city, known as the 'Phoenix City', is proud to rise against climate change and raise awareness to encourage action. As the city that rose from the ashes after the blitz and contains a phoenix on its crest, Our Wilder Family will proudly represent Coventry's spirit with a stunning Green Phoenix finale.

This international family day, replace your bedtime story or Netflix show and come together with family, friends and your community to be mesmerised by this unique spectacle.

HOW TO GET THERE

Commissioned by Coventry City of Culture as part of the #GreenFutures programme in partnership with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund

About the artists

Our Wilder Family is created by the world famous artivists Celestial and explores the family of wildlife around us and our role in protecting the planet. The display, which has been conceived as a mesmerising bedtime story, features a new sound score created by Dan Jones and Guy Hughes. The BAFTA and Ivor Novello Award-winning composer, Dan Jones, returns after working on Coventry City of Culture’s signature event, Coventry Moves.

The show is accompanied by poetry from local artists, collaboration with local communities and a live soundtrack, which will be in surround sound at War Memorial Park. Guy Hughes worked alongside Warwickshire Wildlife Trust with 7 – 10 year old pupils at local primary schools to create the sound score. Audiences will be able to stream the accompanying music and poetry through local radio stations and online.

Narration will come from Coventry 2 Tone legend Pauline Black, reading new poetry from Bohdan Piasecki - based on the words of four Coventry City Voices poets Kim Hackleman, Navkiran Maan, Diana Roor and Paul Tafaro.

Seven year old Aneeshwar Kunchala, born in Birmingham, who judges on Britain’s Got Talent 2022 called a mini Sir David Attenborough shares insights about the animals featured in the drone show.
