In response to the global impact of fast fashion, the Haus Of Kraft Coventry collective team up with artists and writers from commonwealth countries to create a catwalk like no other.

Fusing arts, movement, music and spoken word, their upcycled creations go from rags to runway using only waste textiles and sustainable materials. Much more than a fashion show, this spectacular event is layered with stories about the threads that connect people, places and the planet.

Directed and designed by world-renowned Creative Artist Jeanefer Jean-Charles and Designer Marsha Roddy. Join this ground-breaking sustainable celebration of Coventry, where movers and makers of all ages and cultural backgrounds unite, celebrating the city’s diverse community, creativity, spirit, environmental consciousness and people power.

Enjoy a red carpet experience like no other, featuring special post-show events and performances, a bespoke sustainable cocktail menu, meet and greet the Haus of Kraft artists and makers and dance the night away in the Queen of Flanders to music from local DJs Selextorhood!

Artists' Biographies

Jeanefer Jean-Charles is a globally respected Creative Director and Producer with over 20 years’ experience, specialising in large-scale performances, opening ceremonies, stadium events, outdoor spectacles, carnivals, and parades. Her work has taken her to over 21 countries and has gone down in the Guinness Book of Records.

As a leading authority in mass movement and public engagement, Jeanefer creatively harnesses dance and movement for the empowerment of individuals and is passionate about ensuring overlooked communities are made visible.

Her unique creative process brings to life the talents, strengths, and shared stories of local communities and artists in inspiring and unforgettable ways.

Marsha Roddy’s career has spanned over 30 years as an Artist and Designer. Her passion and energy have taken her on many adventures, living and working globally, where she has worked on projects across Europe, the US and Asia. She has designed sets and costumes for the stage, film, and television; worked on architectural projects, conceived haute couture for events and created pieces of performance art.

In the UK Marsha worked on numerous theatre productions and her love of children’s productions has seen her design many popular award-winning shows for TV. During the years Marsha lived in Hong Kong she had the pleasure of designing costumes and haute couture style dresses for events in China and Japan for clients such as Mont Blanc, Cartier, Perrier Jouet, Louis Vuitton, Faberge, Van Cleef and Arpels.

Some of her recent projects have been, ‘The Tempest Reimagined’, Peta Theatre and the British Council, Manila - Directed by Nona Shepphard, ‘If not me Who ‘ the Artist Tree Theatre, ‘Hash Tag’ and ‘Only a Girl,’  at the Shouson Theatre , Hong Kong, all written and directed by Lindsey McAlister. ‘The Black Victorians’ choreographed by Jeanefer Jean Charles, UK summer tour and ‘Spring Awakening’,  Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre, RADA, directed by Shiv Rabheru. 


Primary School Showcase and Secondary School Competition.

Junk Kouture is a recycled fashion competition which challenges young people to design, assemble, create and model high end couture from everyday junk! It takes in elements of fashion, design, engineering and environmental sustainability and transforms them into a creative contest like no other!

Assembly Festival Garden is located in Coventry City Centre near the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum and 200m metres from Coventry Cathedral.

There are two main entrances to Assembly Festival Garden, one to the west and one to the east. The western entrance is located on Little Park Street, CV1 2LU and at what3words ///like.stage.finely. This is also where you can find the ticket office. The eastern entrance is located on Much Park Street, CV1 2LU and at what3words ///gone.unique.drag

Both these entrances are step-free and each performance space has step-free access with the exception of the Treehouse.

We welcome all assistance dogs into Assembly Festival Garden including guide dogs and hearing dogs and our front of house team will be on hand to offer any assistance you might need.
