CVX x B-Side Prelims and Finals is suitable for all ages.

Co-produced by Birmingham Hippodrome and Coventry City of Culture Trust. Funded by Arts Council England and Spirit 2012.

Commissioned as part of UK City of Culture 2021 and working in partnership with Positive Youth Foundation and organisations and artists across the city, CVX is a pioneering arts activism programme curated by young people around the themes of community, unity and social change.

It’s the B-SIDE x Break Mission prelims - breakin', poppin', waackin' and Hip-Hop dance battles backed by live MCs and DJs.

Up to 500 b-boys and b-girls from across the UK come together for this incredible annual event - dancers donate to participate with clothes and food given to local homeless charities.

Plus, there’s a special Kre8! Bonnie and Clyde (boy & girl) 2 v 2 improvised dance battle delivered and hosted by Marso Riviere.

Live-streamed on the big screen beneath the ring road in the Gosford Street and Grove Street Car Park stages.

Together We Can See It Safely

We are staging this event in line with guidance following the Government’s relaxation of COVID regulations regarding social distancing, which is no longer mandatory. To make this event as safe and comfortable as possible we continue to operate on a reduced capacity, however, limited socially distanced areas will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

To keep your fellow audience members, dancers, artists and our team as safe as possible, we expect all our audience and team members to wear face coverings (except those medically exempt). We also encourage everyone to take a lateral flow test before travelling; this too is for everyone’s benefit, because together we can all help each other enjoy a safe and comfortable visit.

NHS Test & Trace QR Codes will also be in place at entrances to the venues, and all are encouraged to check-in with their smartphone as they arrive at the venue for the first time.
