Support our city
Here at City of Culture we aim to help our local organisations where we can and there are some great causes and projects that you can make a real difference to. Two such projects are EGO 1.1 and From East to West with Love.
Ego 1.1 is the campaign launched by EGO Performance Company to raise funds to purchase their building on Silver Street. Having been creating accessible, original and diverse projects for the past ten years, they are hoping to not have to move from their current home. Developers are looking to purchase the building but having already spent over £200,000 on renovations and creating a venue that has become a haven to some; they are hoping that they will not have to leave but can instead grow. Their current target is 1.1million including the purchase of the freehold along with some extra currently unused space and its development.

From East to West with Love is a 9-month project directed by artists Emilia Moniszko and Rob Hamp. It is a new international exhibition inspired by the cultural sectors response to Eastern and central migrations and their implications for cultural policy; particularly in cities like Coventry. The work itself will represent trans-nationality and cultural interconnectedness. The two-week project will include an exhibit in the Glass Box, film screenings, and an open forum at the Herbert Art Gallery. Artists involved in the project include Anna Kataryzyna Domejko, Kate Hawkins, one of Poland’s most recognised performance artists Pawel Hajncel, Andrea Hannon, artistic duo Patt and Willy as well as the project directors.
Looking to raise £1000, the funds would be used to pay for artists travel and fees, exhibition materials, marketing materials and a post project guide/toolkit. You can also buy donated works from the artists involved as part of the fundraising scheme.
