Gurpreet volunteered as a City Host to meet like-minded people and give something back to the city. Hear more about her experience and what she’s gained so far…
What inspired you to sign up to be a City Host?
Becoming a City Host was an opportunity for me to give back to the city, to reach out during the pandemic, to meet new people, learn about the city and be involved in a once in a lifetime chance of being part of Coventry being the City of Culture!
What have you gained from your experience as a City Host so far?
I’ve gained friendships through working with different and new City Hosts, getting out and being involved in exciting new ventures, improving my employment prospects by including volunteering on my CV. I’ve also seen an improvement in my mental health by having things to look forward to by volunteering and meeting City Hosts at events and social get togethers!
What would you say to anyone thinking about becoming a City Host?
Get involved! You meet lots of nice like-minded people, improve your employment prospects, be part of exciting new projects, give back, learn new skills and you get so much back in return!
