Barriers to Bridges

Barriers to Bridges is a ground-breaking artist in residence programme that has seen four artists embedded within West Midlands Police, Extended Learning Centres in Coventry and Family Hubs across the city.

The artists have worked with young people and the institutions to respond to some of the challenges facing young people and their relationships with the organisations. The artists have led creative responses in the areas of film, photography and music.

Kay Rufai: Barriers to Bridges

West Midlands Police asked artist Kay Rufai to help to understand the experiences of young Black and Asian people in the city and to create pieces of art to tell those stories.

Joe Cook: Barriers to Bridges

Joe Cook is a musician, lyricist and music producer from Birmingham UK. Joe has been working across three different Extended Learning Centres (Pupil Referral Units) across Coventry working with young people to create their own original music and lyrics.
