The Weaver’s House is a tiny terraced cottage located in one of the most historic areas of the city, Spon End. Originally built in 1455, the interior, exterior and medieval garden of The Weaver’s House have been restored to how they would have appeared in 1540.

The exhibition at The Weaver’s House brings together artworks which explore weaving as a historic and contemporary practice undertaken in almost every community across the globe.

Video work by Anna Molska explores working conditions within the disappearing textile industry in Poland, while Nilupa Yasmin’s hand-woven photographic pieces, made through a process of shredding and re-assemblage, refer to domestic Muslim life. Specially commissioned seating by Mathew Parkin, located within the context of this unique historic building and across other Biennial sites, compliment these works.
