TEDxWarwick initially began 11 years ago hosting events in small lecture halls across campus. However, 11 years later today, and with a 45+ strong student team, and with 1200 attendees at our main event, we are not only one of the largest TEDx events in the UK, but also the largest student-run TEDx event in Europe.
We pride ourselves as more than just a University event. Our reach extends far and wide, with our attendees hailing from across the UK and Europe, and, our online audience, numbering in the millions. We always tirelessly work in involving local communities within our TEDx vision.
From our humble beginnings to the present day, with over 180 speakers across the years bringing their inspirational stories and talks, we always aim to make a difference: locally, internationally, and at the University. After all, at its core, TEDxWarwick is an initiative by students, for everyone, no strings attached.
For the 11th year running, TEDxWarwick casts its eyes forward to the future that we are in the midst of creating – for better or worse. In a day filled with talks, performances, breakout sessions and more, we aim to find and celebrate the ideas of 14 fantastic people who are changing today\’s landscape to carve out our shared future – with our seminal event themed ‘Architects of Tomorrow’.
Past speakers include: writer and political activist, Noam Chomsky; Planet Earth 2 producer, Ed Charles; Cameroon’s first female presidential candidate, Kah Walla; internationally renowned human-rights activist and genocide survivor, Arn Chorn-Pond; BRIT Award Winner and one of the world’s most influential classical artists, Nicola Benedetti, and many more.
From successful entrepreneurship and the latest developments in medicine, clean energy and artificial intelligence, to stories of personal struggle and achievement, our 2019 edition aims to go above and beyond to showcase the ideas that are beginning to shape the course of our next steps.
The event will be held on March 2, 2019; times between 10am – 6pm. We hold several breaks throughout this period, which include breakout sessions, performances by local and University talent, as well as opportunities to mingle with our speakers. More specific information will be released as the event day nears.
Our Facebook Page and Event Page host a majority of all the information regarding this event, including the aforementioned and incremental speaker releases.
TEDxWarwick 2019 will be held in Butterworth Hall in the Warwick Arts Centre (University of Warwick)
