CRAFTING CHANGE AT STEPS FOR CHANGE
STEPS For Change is a multi-agency drop-in service addressing rough sleeping across Coventry city centre. STEPS: Crafting Change is a new contemporary art initiative co-developed by Crisis, a national charity working with the homeless and those that are vulnerably housed, and Coventry Biennial.
For this project, artists Anne Forgan and Kirstie Lewis, along with Crisis service users, have made new collaboratively produced installations. These will be exhibited in the first gallery in the UK dedicated to addressing this ever-pressing societal concern, a concern which impacts upon the lives of many within the city and across the country.
Produced through a series of educational and participatory workshops, these new artworks use socks, t-shirts and cardboard as raw materials, all of which have been generously donated to the project by local residents and businesses.
