This installation by Catherine Howard presents over 100 embellished textile moths.

The piece celebrates the wonderful range of patterns and colours produced by the highly skilled men and women working in the silk ribbon industry in Coventry 200 years ago. Some of the moths carry quotations from an original sample book from the Herbert’s collection, and reveal how precarious the silk ribbon trade could be.
