Being named UK City of Culture opens the door to a world of opportunity for local artists, freelancers and arts and cultural organisations. At Coventry City of Culture Trust, we know that the secret to having the best year as Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 is supporting and collaborating with a flourishing local arts and cultural sector.
Since Coventry won the bid to become UK City of Culture 2021, the team has been supporting and working with Coventry organisations and artists to create exhibitions, performances, new work and to bring pre-existing work to a wider audience.
We have also supported the local arts and culture sector during the COVID19 pandemic. At the start of lockdown we launched the Coventry 2021 Coronavirus Resilience Fund with the Heart of England Community Foundation, which awarded funding to 95 struggling individuals and organisations working in the Coventry arts and culture scene.
So far, we have worked with and supported over 470 individuals and organisations that contribute the local arts and culture sector; everything from painters, faith groups and leisure and hospitality.
Here you can find a full list of those organisations, artists and freelancers we have worked with and supported since we won the bid in 2017, right up until the present day.
