Student Asha first gained insight into the world of volunteering when she volunteered at Birmingham Children’s Hospital for 6 months. After thoroughly enjoying that experience, Asha applied to become a City Host whilst studying at Coventry University. Here, she shares her experience with us.
What inspired you to sign up to be a City Host?
I signed up to be a City Host so that I could boost some of my skills and feel more confident. I wanted to grow as a person, meet inspiring people during the various events and gain new skills that will help me in future. I also wanted to learn more about Coventry and its culture.
What have you gained from your experience as a City Host so far?
I have enhanced my communication and team working skills as well as my confidence. This will definitely help me in the future after I graduate from university when applying for jobs. I have also met some amazing people who volunteered with me.
What would you say to anyone thinking about becoming a City Host?
Enjoy your shifts and don’t be afraid to start a conversation with the public.
