Join The Curious Club. A growing community of local creatives, led by two black British-Caribbean dads, Gordon Lowe and Cory Barrett, who care about men and their wellbeing. The ‘club’ is about being curious to meet new people, to try new things and do it because as men from diverse backgrounds, we need to connect with likeminded people who can validate our experiences (and have some fun!)
We’re looking for 24 men (described as anyone who identifies as a man) aged between 25-55 to join us on WE COME FAR, a 3-hour outdoor walk and workshop on Sunday 4 July 2021 at Canley Ford. We would particularly like to hear from individuals of Black, Asian and global majority backgrounds.
So, do you feel like you need some time to step back, take a slower pace outdoors and connect with others whilst doing something good for the soul?
Are you interested in trying out some creative and physical activities and becoming part of our developing community?
Sign up and develop your skills alongside one of six artists/practitioners specialising in a range of art forms including: Photography, sound design, music culture, writing/spoken word poetry and physical activity/movement.
During the walk, you will be invited to engage with tasks set by the artists/practitioners, taking moments to rest, reflect, explore, creatively express yourself and chat along the way with other guys.
A pre-prepared WELL CURIOSITY pack will be sent to each participant ahead of the workshop which will include content specific to the artform you are interested in.
Social distancing and Covid regulations will be in place as part of this activity.
Submit a quick application using our online form which allows you to submit your entry in a variety of ways including video, audio recording or text.
Deadline for submissions: Friday 11 June 12 noon*
When you apply, please also complete our anonymous Diversity and Equal Opportunities form: EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FORM
*Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. We will close applications early if 24 candidates meet the project intentions before the deadline so we advise applying early to avoid disappointment.

Why are we targeting Black Asian and other people of the global majority groups, for this call out?
Men from these groups are statistically less likely to ever present to clinical services for support for their mental health. There are a number of reasons for this. We are not a peer support group or clinical professionals, we simple want to create space for men to come together. For this project, we want to break down barriers and directly invite men, especially from non-white backgrounds to connect with us in green and outdoor spaces, especially if they have struggled with mental ill health or want to do something positive for their wellbeing.
Where will the activity take place?
Canley Ford, Coventry CV4 7AR.
The exact route will be dependent on your group/lead artist but details about your specific route will be confirmed if your application is successful. Details about transport support and exact timings/meeting place will be shared with the final attendees.
Will there be food?
Yes, further information about food for participants will be announced when the 24 participants have been selected
If I have access requirements who do I contact?
Please email [email protected] if you would like to discuss any access requirements.
When do applications for this opportunity close?
